Inna Faliks, piano

“Adventurous and passionate” (The New Yorker) Ukrainian-born pianist Inna Faliks has established herself as one of the most communicative, and poetic artists of her generation. She has made a name for herself through commanding performances of standard piano repertoire, as well as genre-bending, interdisciplinary projects, and inquisitive work with contemporary composers. Faliks is a professor and Head of Piano at UCLA.

PROGRAM

A unique program of storytelling through performance and readings of Faliks’ book “Weight in the Fingertips, a Musical Odyssey from Soviet Ukraine to the World Stage.”

*Written for Inna Faliks, this work features the recorded voice of the Odessa cantor Gershon Sirota, known as “The Jewish Caruso,” during a 1907 service. He perished in the Warsaw Ghetto uprising.
