Pride Week Student Showcase

Join us for an exciting Pride Week student showcase featuring music student performances by LGBTQIA+ composers and gender and sexuality research presentations. Come celebrate the last day of Pride Week with us! The pre-recorded event will be available for asynchronous viewing on the department’s YouTube channel after the premiere. This concert presentation is part of Pride Week at Carolina 2021, sponsored by the UNC LGBTQ Center.

Annual 1843 Pleyel Concert

The Department of Music presents the annual concert featuring the department’s 1843 Pleyel piano. Donated to the Department by Tom Kenan, the restored Pleyel was purchased directly from the Pleyel piano manufacturing company in Paris. Pleyel’s instruments were favorites of Frédéric Chopin and many of his nineteenth-century contemporaries, and reflect a touch and sound quite different from the modern grand piano.
