We’re thrilled to welcome students, faculty, staff, and community members back to our performance venues this year! We’re also excited to be able to offer online ticket purchasing. Below are some questions that may come up as you navigate this new process and return to our spaces. If there is a question you have that’s not answered below, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at uncmusicboxoffice@gmail.com or 919-962-1039.

Purchasing Tickets

Where can I purchase tickets online?
We have two new forms: Scholarship Benefit Concert Series Tickets and William S. Newman Artists Series Tickets, where you can purchase tickets for any of our 2021-2022 season ticketed events. These forms are linked on all relevant events pages.

There is also a registration form for livestream access to select events. And for our most popular free events, there is a Free Concert Reservations form to ensure the best possible experience for attendees.

All events listed on our website will have the corresponding form linked directly to the page. You can also access the ticket and registration forms via the links above or on the Concert Tickets homepage.

If the event you are attending is in Memorial Hall, tickets can be purchased through the Memorial Hall Box Office over the phone at 919.843.3333 or by email at carolinaperformingarts@unc.edu.

When can I purchase tickets online?
Tickets are available for purchase for all 21-22 season events now. Online ticket sales will close one full business day before the concert to ensure the completed processing of all ticket purchases.

How will I receive my ticket if I buy it online?
Your ticket will be sent to you via email. Tickets may be printed at home or shown on your mobile device at the door.

Can I still buy a ticket in person?
Yes! Unless a concert is sold out online the box office will open one hour prior to the showtime for each concert.

Can I purchase a ticket over the phone?
No, unfortunately, we cannot sell tickets over the phone.

I’m a current music student/faculty/staff. If I fill out the online form will I have to pay for my ticket? Aren’t they free for music students/faculty/staff?
If you are a current UNC Music student, faculty, or staff member you will not have to purchase your ticket. When you fill out the form to reserve your ticket, please enter your valid UNC PID number so we can check your status as a UNC Music affiliate.

If COVID-19 circumstances worsen as the event approaches, will I get a refund?
Yes. If you no longer feel comfortable attending an in-person event, let us know at least 48 hours in advance of the event and we will issue you a full refund. Likewise, if an event is canceled due to COVID-19, you will receive a full refund. We are not able to refund ticket donations for virtual events.

Attending the Event

I purchased my ticket online. How do I show it at the door to get in?
Your ticket will be sent to you via email. Please bring a printout of the ticket PDF or be ready to display the ticket on your mobile device.

Do I need to wear a mask to attend concerts?
Yes, masks are required for everyone on UNC campus when indoors. You can find the current Department Guidelines here and the current University Guidelines here. There will be Carolina Together Ambassadors present at our events to help with any questions about current health and safety protocols.

Will there be physically distanced seating available?
Yes, seating in both Person Hall and Kenan Rehearsal Hall will be distanced. In Moeser Auditorium, we will be offering physically distanced sections at the back of the auditorium and on the sides. Due to this spacing, the seating capacity of all department venues are slightly less. Moeser Auditorium’s seating capacity for this season is approximately 330.

If you are attending an event in Memorial Hall, distancing will also be implemented. Please see their website for more details.

Do I need to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test?
No, while we strongly encourage all of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors to get vaccinated, it is not a requirement to attend our events. We also do not require proof of a negative COVID test.

Can I still attend the event if I’m experiencing COVID-19 symptoms?
No. For the health and safety or our students, faculty, staff, and community members, please stay home if you are feeling unwell or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. For a list of symptoms, please visit carolinatogether.unc.edu/symptom-monitoring.

If COVID-19 circumstances worsen as the event approaches, will I get a refund?
Yes. If you no longer feel comfortable attending an in-person event, let us know at least 48 hours in advance of the event and we will issue you a full refund. This is my first time attending a music department event. Where can I find the performance venues?
The music department operates in three buildings on UNC’s north campus: Hill Hall, Kenan Music Building, and Person Hall. Visit our Venues page for more details on our performance spaces and how to find them.

Where should I park?
Parking is available in the Swain Lot, next to Hill Hall and Kenan Music Buildings on a first-come, first-serve basis. On weeknights and weekends, there is a $1/day charge for parking in this lot. This lot can be accessed from Cameron Avenue. There are also numerous paid lots and parking decks on Franklin Street and Rosemary Street within a 1-2 block walk of the music department buildings.

For more information on parking, please visit our Parking & Directions page.
