NOTE: To help ensure the health and safety of our community, we are not currently offering practice passes for purchase. The use of practice rooms this fall, and until further notice, is restricted to music majors or those enrolled in department lessons/ensembles.

The Department of Music houses 31 practice rooms in the basement level of Hill Hall with a variety of configurations, resources, and instruments available for student use. Most of the rooms are equipped with an upright or electric piano, mirror, and music stand. Five rooms with grand pianos are available for use by piano majors only.

All students enrolled in private lessons or a Department ensemble may use the practice rooms for free, and others can purchase OneCard access by semester for a $70 fee. Passes are distributed by Angeline Warren (Hill Hall 105A;; (919) 962-6013). When purchasing access please bring a check or cash (exact change, please). Upon purchase, your Onecard will be activated for after-hours access to Hill Hall. All practice rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

If you encounter issues with our pianos, please email Max Mitler at
