The Department of Music houses 32 practice rooms in the basement level of Hill Hall with a variety of configurations, resources, and instruments available for student use. Most of the rooms are equipped with an upright or electric piano, mirror, and music stand. Six rooms with grand pianos are available for use by piano majors only.

All students enrolled in private lessons or a department ensemble may use the practice rooms for free. A limited amount of others can purchase OneCard access by semester for a $70 fee.

For non-music students, access is approved upon request via our online Practice Room Access request form. Upon approval, you will be billed $70 and your Onecard will be activated for access to Hill Hall. All non-music student slots for Spring 2022 have been filled. Please check back in Fall 2022.

All practice rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please review our department Covid-19 guidelines before entering our buildings. Students must remain masked when using the practice rooms. Please wipe down all surfaces before and after use and set the clock on the door to 10 minutes later when exiting the space.

If you encounter issues with our pianos, please email Max Mitler at
