Dr. Citron played an important role in the rise of feminist musicology, publishing books on Fanny Hensel (1987) and Cécile Chaminade (1988) in addition to her important 1993 book Gender and the Musical Canon. Her contributions to musicology were recognized in 2012 with an Honorary Membership to the American Musicological Society. She is currently a Professor Emerita of Musicology at Rice University; her faculty page can be found here.
