Mick Anderson
Graduate Student (2nd Year)
Mick Anderson is a cultural historian and historical musicologist from Virginia’s Allegheny Mountains. Mick is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Musicology program at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is also undertaking a graduate minor in American Studies.
He holds a BA in Music with concentrations in Sacred Music and Choral Conducting from the College of William & Mary; an MS in Arts Administration from Shenandoah Conservatory; and an MA in Musicology from the University of New Hampshire. Substantial research projects include a capstone exploring Felix Mendelssohn’s close relationship with his sister Fanny Hensel and a fundraising event plan for the Vietnam War Memorial.
Currently Mick is at work on a project titled The Spectacle of Student Protest: The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1970 and 2024 under the direction of Dr. Anna Gatdula. Mick is an alumnus of the Sustainable Mentorship Program of the American Musicological Society, a member of the American Studies Association, and the host of Great Sacred Music on WCPE, The Classical Station, 89.7 FM.
