Assistant Professor in Musicology

The Department of Music at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as assistant professor in musicology, broadly defined to include the full range of music studies’ subdisciplines and interdisciplinary conversations. The department’s faculty includes composers, conductors and ensemble directors, performers, scholars, and sound engineers engaged in manifold creative practices in a liberal arts context. Our current academic faculty members critically employ methods from cultural studies, ethnomusicology, historical musicology, music theory, popular music studies, and sound studies. We seek a colleague with a record of accomplishment and a clear trajectory for future excellence as a scholar and teacher whose intellectual profile and expertise complement and expand upon our collective investments.

Teaching Assistant Professor in Audio Production

The Department of Music at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking candidates for a Teaching Assistant Professor position with teaching and professional experience in the area of audio production. With a 3+3 teaching load, the selected candidate will be expected to teach three courses per semester related to audio production, sound engineering, and music technology. This is a 3-year, full-time (non-tenure track) appointment with the possibility of renewal, assigned to a 9-month teaching contract each year. Responsibilities begin on July 1, 2024. The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience. We welcome applications from candidates from any musical background and whose work aligns with our departmental mission as outlined on our website.
