Interested in participating in a music department ensemble this semester? Some ensembles require auditions that will happen during the first week of classes in August (August 19 – August 24, 2019). See below for more information on how to sign up to audition for those ensembles.
Carolina Bluegrass Band
Auditions will be held for the Fall semester on August 19, 2019, or by appointment. Contact director Russell Johnson at rdjohn@email.unc.edu to schedule an audition.
Charanga Carolina
Auditions will be held during the first rehearsal (Tuesday, August 20, 2019) of the semester. To pass the audition, students must demonstrate strong reading skills, pitch and rhythmic accuracy, and proficiency on their instrument. Choral Ensembles
Carolina Choir, UNC Chamber Singers, UNC Glee Club
Auditions for all of the choral ensembles will be held August 19 – 23, 2019 in Person Hall Room 106. Audition times are available by sign-up via Google Docs. Auditions consist of the singing of America (My Country `Tis of Thee) or a song of your choice, and a check for voice range and sight-reading ability. All auditioning students will be placed in a choral ensemble if possible. For more information, contact Professor Susan Klebanow (skleb@email.unc.edu).
Jazz Band and Combos
Auditions for UNC Jazz Band and UNC Jazz Combos Fall 2019 semester will be August 20 – 22, 2019. For more information, to fill out the audition form, and to sign up for a time, click here.
Guitar Ensemble

Percussion Ensemble
Membership is open to all University members by audition, and interested individuals should contact Professor Juan Alamo (jalamo@email.unc.edu).
UNC Opera
Auditions for UNC Opera productions typically are held in the preceding semester. For information, contact Dr. Marc Callahan (opera@unc.edu).
UNC Symphony Orchestra (string)
Auditions for the orchestra strings will be held Monday, August 19, Wednesday, August 21, Friday, August 23, and Saturday, August 24. Returning orchestra members must re-audition each year for seating placement. Prior to auditioning, all prospective and returning orchestra members must fill out and submit the Player Information Form accessed by clicking here. To sign up for an audition, click here.
UNC Symphony Orchestra (winds, percussion) and Wind Ensemble
