Mark Evan BondsCongratulations to Professor Evan Bonds for his selection as an Honorary Member of the American Musicological Society. The Society lauded Dr. Bonds’ distinguished career in teaching and research, as well as his service. Read the full announcement below.

“For his contributions to the field of musicology, his distinguished teaching career, and his professional service. His publications include books about Beethoven, musical rhetoric, absolute music, musical thought and aesthetics, and more generally music in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. He has also served, among many other activities and accomplishments, as Editor-in-Chief of Beethoven Forum, and has contributed to the Society as a member of the Council and Board of Directors, and as member or chair of the Committee on the Annual Meeting, Program Committee, Solie Award Committee, and the Kinkeldey Award Committee.  He has recently retired from a distinguished teaching career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he holds the title of Cary C. Boshamer Distinguished Professor Emeritus. Finally, he is believed to be the only member of the Society to have been the object of an entire paragraph in an issue of Sports Illustrated.”
