University Chamber Players

Donald L. Oehler, Director

University Chamber Players creates the opportunity for students to participate in mixed chamber music. Each term concludes with a public performance given in Person Recital Hall on the UNC campus. Additional performances may be given on and off campus as the need or request arises.

The ensemble was initiated to offer music majors and accomplished non-majors an opportunity to learn and perform the standard chamber music repertoire while receiving intensive coaching. It is intended to meet the following goals:

  • To gain an appreciation for the genre of chamber music
  • To understand and experience the nature of small ensemble playing
  • To create another type of performing opportunity within the department
  • To expose the participants to a repertoire and musical activity to be pursued on either a professional or amateur level after the university years.
