Meg Orita

Ph.D. Candidate

Originally from Princeton, N.J., H. Meg Orita holds a Bachelor of Music degree, summa cum laude with program honors, in Voice & Opera Performance with a Minor in Musicology from Northwestern University’s Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music. She recently completed her Master’s thesis, addressing how music of different genres is arranged for figure skating programs. Her current research focuses on narratives of trauma and recovery in the work of 1990s/2000s singer-songwriters. Meg’s research interests incorporate social media ethnography, body-positivity, and feminist theory. Meg is also involved in projects with the National Eating Disorders Association and Embody Carolina, and runs a blog dedicated to body-positive media.
