Graduate Student (2nd Year)

Born in Marlborough, Massachusetts, Jay Maenhout holds a B.M. in Music Theory/Composition from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J. His main area of interest is the American Top 40 analyzed through lenses of race, class, and gender. He is particularly concerned with the musical canon and what is taught to both music majors and non-majors alike in the collegiate classroom. An active early music tenor, Jay has sung major works with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Berlin Philharmoniker, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and Vienna Philharmonic.
