Ben Gates

Graduate Student (2nd Year)

Originally from Muskogee, Oklahoma, Ben Gates holds a Bachelor of Music in Theory and Composition from the Middle Tennessee State University School of Music. Currently a second-year graduate student in musicology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his research interests include the use of music as an aspect of dramatic expression in both film and opera. Other interests include mechanical instruments and musical automata in 18th century Europe.
