As part of the Scholarship Benefit Concert Series, the UNC Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band will perform alongside the West Forsyth High School Band at 7:30 pm in Moeser Auditorium. General Admission Tickets are $10, and UNC student/faculty tickets are $5.
The Wind Ensemble, conducted by Evan Feldman, is composed of approximately fifty-five of the finest wind and percussion performers at the university. Although its members come from many different states and a variety of fields of study, they are drawn together by the desire to perform serious wind literature. The Wind Ensemble has received praise from composers and reviewers for its artistic performances and imaginative programming that regularly features collaborations with major composers and guest artists.
The Symphony Band, conducted by Arris Golden, is composed of approximately sixty students and performs a variety of original wind literature and orchestral transcriptions. Membership is open to all university students regardless of major. The Symphony Band rehearses from 4pm to 6pm on Mondays and Wednesdays each semester. The group performs four concerts on campus each year in Memorial Hall and regularly shares concerts with local high school bands.
