PROGRAM
A celebration of multimedia works featuring Contours a new multimedia work produced by Brooks de Wetter-Smith with music by de Wetter-Smith, Allen Anderson, Matthew McClure, and Lee Weisert. Also included on the concert is The Dante Quartet, a film score by Lee Weisert (film by Stan Brakhage), among others.
What is reality? What is illusion? Contours – for Improvised Quartet and Video, is an existential exploration of this nebulous region between reality and our illusory perceptions of that reality. The video was conceived as a kaleidoscope, the succession of images growing out of what immediately precedes them. Instrumentation for Contours is not specified, however, I had in mind the same instrumentation and personnel as an earlier multi-media collaboration we shared together, namely flute, alto saxophone, two computers, a synthesizer, and the addition of guitar. Only my prologue and video, the latter created over a period of three years, are fixed. All else is improvised. -Brooks de Wetter-Smith
