Every year, the department looks forward to welcoming new and familiar faces to the spaces of Hill Hall, Person Hall, and Kenan Music Building. We’re so excited to start our new Student Spotlight series to get to know the students better. To start off our series, we got to talk with Annie Ascher, a first-year double majoring in Voice Performance and Advertising/PR.

UNC Music: What is your name, year, instrument, and major(s)?
Annie Ascher: My name is Annie Ascher and I am a freshman studying Music with a concentration in Classical Voice and Public Relations/Advertising.
UNC Music: What is your favorite part of the music department?
AA: I love the size and how kind everyone is. In my short time at Carolina so far, everyone in the music department has been so welcoming and supportive.
UNC Music: What are some of your non-musical hobbies?
AA: I love running! I also love kids so this summer I was a nanny.
UNC Music: Who are your favorite artists at the moment?
AA: I love Taylor Swift, the Lumineers, Chris Stapleton and Mozart always!

AA: Apple Music!!
