Nuria Shin, communications assistant
Hi! My name’s Nuria Shin and I’m one of the communications assistants for the UNC Music Department. This year I’ll be managing the department’s social media platforms. Be sure to follow us @uncmusic to get to know us better and to stay updated with upcoming events and projects!
Year & Major:
I’m a junior double majoring in Advertising & Public Relations (B.A.) and Voice Performance (B.Mus). I love being able to combine my passion for music with my interest in marketing.
Favorite thing about UNC:
I love how small you can make UNC feel! Even though the campus is big and there’s a lot of students, there are so many ways to find your group(s) of people. The friends I’ve made through classes and ensembles like UNC Opera have made my time at Carolina absolutely worth it!
Favorite thing about your job?
My favorite thing about this job is that it allows me to get to know the department to such a deep extent. I love getting to know the different music faculty members and students and hearing about their projects and successes. Working here has only helped me grow my love for the department.
What are you currently listening to?
I’ve had Monteverdi’s “L’incoronazione di Poppea” on repeat because that’s what we’re doing for UNC Opera but I’ve also been on a huge Puccini kick lately (can you honestly blame me?) If I’m not listening to classical music, you can find me listening to Finneas, Maggie Rogers and Kacey Musgraves.
