On Saturday, August 1, Professor Brent Wissick was awarded Lifetime Membership by the Viola da Gamba Society of America at the closing session of the 2020 (virtual) National Conclave “for his devotion to the VdGSA, musicianship, humility, and care for others.”
The citation, below, notes his many accomplishments and contributions, not only to the VdGSA, but to music across the country and globe. Quoting a student of his they remarked, “His patience is outshone only by his love for us: he wept as he spoke of the importance of believing in students even when they don’t believe in themselves.”
Chair and Professor David Garcia noted, “It is inspiring to know that Brent’s dedication to music and education that we’ve known and admired for many years is also recognized and honored by his colleagues in the Viola da Gamba Society of America.”
The department offers its hearty congratulations to Prof. Wissick on this well-deserved honor!
