MUSC 111: Group Lessons in Voice – Advanced (Musical Theater)

MUSC 111 Class

Music 111 meets on Thursdays at 5 to study styles and technique of Music Theater repertoire from the entire last century. Each singer prepares and performs 3 pieces – 1 Legit, 1 Standard Broadway and 1 Pop style – in a master class setting within each class period. The course concentrates on singing and acting, making the connection between text and music. Pianist is provided during class time at no charge.

Dr. Eugene Galvin teaches the course and has a long history of teaching musical theater voice. His former students perform nationally and internationally. He also has extensive stage experience himself, and has performed in opera and musical theater with artists as diverse as Victor Borge and Patti Lupone.

The class presents a public performance at the end of the semester, and students have sung with companies both on campus and off. This course is a great way to get incredible coaching and performance experience!
