We are thrilled to add five incredible educators to our faculty in the Department of Music this year! Over the course of the next five weeks we will be introducing you to each of them individually. We hope that you will be able to meet them and see them in performance this year. Today, we would like to briefly introduce these fabulous faculty to you and what they will be doing here in the department.
Laura Alexander is our new Director of Women’s Glee Club. She is also a recent graduate of the department and we are very excited to have her back!
Erin Cooper is the new Assistant Director of University Bands. Dr. Cooper will be assisting with the Marching Tar Heels, pep bands, and conducting the Symphony Band.
Tatiana Hargreaves is our new Fiddle Lecturer. She will be teaching private fiddle lessons and also working with Russell Johnson and the Carolina Bluegrass Band.
LaToya Lain joins our department as a new Assistant Professor of Voice. While at home in many genres, Dr. Lain has found great success on the opera stage and is actively involved in promoting and preserving the art of the Negro Spiritual.
Laura Stevens comes aboard as our new Flute Lecturer, and has a rich history of performance with many symphony orchestras around the state and beyond. Dr. Stevens will be performing with the Carolina Wind Quintet regularly.
