Gifts and Giving

by Glenn McDonald last modified 2008-07-01 16:58

The Music Department relies greatly on the material support and creative sustenance of a large number of alumni, friends and donors, without whom we could not sustain the levels of excellence and innovation clearly apparent in the work of our students and faculty.

Recent gifts have ranged from the millions (for new building and undergraduate scholarships) to the hundreds of thousands (to support our performance ensembles and faculty appointments) to the tens of thousands (to enable masterclasses and workshops) to the thousands (for undergraduate and graduate research funds) to the hundreds for individual projects. But we are no less grateful to those of our supporters who assiduously mail a $50 check each month secure in the knowledge that they, too, are playing their part in supporting music at Carolina.

Such funds can be designated for specific uses such as scholarships, new instruments, or research support; they can be left unrestricted so as to enable the department to respond to needs as they arise. We are always happy to discuss how our activities may match donor interests; we are always delighted when our alumni give back in fond memory of  what Carolina gave to them; we are always grateful to those who keep us in their minds and hearts.
