Stafford Wing 's performance career embraces a wide range of both classical and non-classical repertoire in the mediums of concert, opera, musical theater, television, radio and recording. He has toured throughout the eastern United States and Canada with the Music Theater of Lincoln Center and has appeared in many concerts in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, England, France and Italy. He has recorded as soloist for Vox with the Chamber Orchestra of the Vienna Symphony and with the Vienna Pro Musica Orchestra and appears in the title role of Carissimi's Jephte on the Decca Gold Label with Amor Artis of New York.
Stafford Wing's premiere performances of works by American composers include Robert Starer and Johannes Somary at Carnegie Hall and Carnegie Recital Hall, David Amram's Passover opera the Final Ingredient on ABC-TV and Ezra Laderman's opera Galileo on CBS-TV. Having sung leading roles with regional opera companies throughout the eastern United States, his continued interest in the lyric stage is evidenced by his numerous appearances with the Triangle Opera and recently with the newly formed Long Leaf Opera in Durham. Mr. Wing has appeared as soloist with both the Greensboro and the North Carolina Symphonies and his recitals include the National Gallery in Washington. Stafford Wing is recipient of the Amoco Foundation Award for excellence in inspirational teaching of undergraduate students at UNC-CH.
Prof. Wing served for three years as a member of the UNC-CH Speakers' Bureau performing concerts throughout the state with colleague, soprano Terry Rhodes. With Terry Rhodes he has also performed concerts of American music in Macedonia and in Greece.
