UNC Guitar Ensemble

by admin-oasis last modified 2007-05-14 16:12

The UNC Guitar ensemble (MUSCO7M) is open to music department Guitar Majors and Minors as well as members of the UNC student body by audition.  Students must be able to read music on the guitar and be proficient in classic guitar technique at beyond a beginning level.

The performance goal of the Guitar Ensemble is to give at least one concert per semester comprised of works written or transcribed for multiple guitars. Each member that wishes is allowed to suggest one piece of mixed ensemble (guitar and other instrument[s]) music to be considered for the concert. Works in the past have included music from the early Renaissance to late Twentieth Century composers that employed acoustic (steel-string) as well as electric guitar/bass.

All interested students should contact Billy Stewart (wstewart@email.unc.edu) between registration and the first week of classes.  The UNC Guitar Ensemble meets on Mondays between the hours of 7 and 10 p.m.
