UNC Guitar Ensemble
The UNC Guitar Ensemble is open to guitar majors and minors in the Department of Music, as well as to members of the UNC student body by audition. Ability to read music on the guitar proficiency in classical guitar technique (beyond a beginning level) are prerequisites to joining Guitar Ensemble.
The performance goal of the Guitar Ensemble is to give at least one concert per semester comprised of works written or transcribed for multiple guitars. Each member that wishes is allowed to suggest one piece of mixed ensemble (guitar and other instrument[s]) music to be considered for the concert. Past repertoire has included everything from the early Renaissance selections to works by late-twentieth-century composers, and employed classical, acoustic (steel-string), and electric guitars (or bass).
All interested students should contact Billy Stewart (firstname.lastname@example.org) between registration and the first week of classes. The UNC Guitar Ensemble meets on Mondays between the hours of 7 and 10 p.m.
