by admin-oasis last modified 2007-09-18 12:26
The UNC Chamber Singers, under the direction of Susan Klebanow, is an ensemble of 25 voices. Its repertoire encompasses vocal chamber music of different styles, with emphasis on Renaissance, Baroque and 20th century music. The ensemble is open to both music majors and non-majors and is made up of undergraduate and graduate students from many departments.

Rehearsals are on Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:00-3:50 p.m. in Person Choral Room.

This fall, Chamber Singers and Carolina Choir will join forces for "This Night, This Moment" -- a concert featuring the music of Prof. Allen Anderson. Along with Anderson's "Someday They'll Find Me Out" and "My Horses Ain't Hungry", the Chamber Singers will perform music of Heinrich Schuetz, Arnold Schoenberg, and Mendelssohn. The concert will be held Thursday evening, November 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Hill Hall Auditorium. It is free and open to the public (no tickets required).

On Tuesday evening, April 22, at 7:30 p.m. the Chamber Singers, along with Carolina Choir, the Men's and Women's Glee Clubs, and the UNC Symphony Orchestra, will perform Brahms' German Requiem, with faculty members Terry Rhodes and Valentin Lanzrein as soloists. The concert will take place in UNC's Memorial Hall; tickets are available for purchase at the Memorial Hall box office or through the UNC Department of Music.

We look forward to seeing you!
