Corso Internazionale di Musica da Camera
Corso Internazionale di Musica a Tuscania
Tuscania, Italy July 26th– August 7th, 2008
The Lorenzo de` Medici International Music Course in Tuscania is a program designed for intensive study in solo repertoire and chamber music and for strings, piano, woodwinds and French horn and voice. Each student will work daily with international faculty members to study, rehearse, and perfect works of the solo repertoire and chamber music. The primary language of instruction is English.
The course will offer a select group of students from around the world the opportunity to live, study and perform together in a beautiful and unique setting at the new Lorenzo de` Medici School (LDM) in Tuscania, Italy. There will be an opening faculty concert given at the Chiesa di San Pietro. Students will perform in concerts at the Chiesa di San Francesco and the Santa Croce in Tuscania.
The course is affiliated with The University of North Carolina Summer School Abroad programs, and is offered in collaboration with Lorenzo de’ Medici Tuscania and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Music. A certificate of participation will be granted by Lorenzo de’ Medici upon completion of the course.
LOCATION
The hillside town of Tuscania is located in a natural paradise of rolling olive-covered hills and river valleys, in the northern part of the Lazio region. The town’s beautiful monuments are not assaulted by modern buildings, and offer a look into the rich history of the area. Etruscan necropolis, Romanesque churches, medieval streets, and stone walls give this town its picturesque appearance. Tuscania is just one hour north of Rome, located between Tarquinia and Viterbo. It is close to the Mediterranean Sea, Lake Bolsena, and natural volcanic hot springs.
