Popular Music
Alongside our historical strengths in the Western classical tradition, the Department of Music offers a broad and growing program of study in multiple popular music traditions. Our popular music offerings include a wide range of survey, topical, and performance-based courses in jazz, rock, country, hip-hop, and world music. Many of these courses are available to all students regardless of major, but can also be applied towards a dedicated emphasis in popular music as part of the Department’s Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Music degrees.
