Welcome to the classical piano webpage! We have a wonderful piano program for our students to foster their creativity and hone their skills as musicians. Our students have won prizes in solo and concerto competitions throughout North Carolina and the South, and have received scholarships/assistantships at the finest universities and conservatories in the country. We have sponsored guest artist recitals and masterclasses by world-renowned concert pianists such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Leon Fleisher, Robert McDonaldPeter Serkin, and Andre Watts as well as residencies by leading pedagogues such as John Perry and Nelita True.

Alongside offerings in classical piano, the Department of Music also offers instruction in jazz piano and organ. Please peruse the links in the sidebar to the left for more information about our piano offerings.

If you encounter issues with our pianos, please email Max Mitler at mitler@email.unc.edu.
