Student examines an open score amidst the music library stacks

Musicology is the academic study of music from around the world, both past and present. It encompasses the history, theory, and sociology of music. Our students work with world renowned faculty to learn how music of all times and all places is put together and used. In our undergraduate programs (B.A. and B.M.), students interact with our faculty in lecture courses, seminars, honor’s theses, independent studies, and summer-research projects. The graduate program is among the nation’s most distinguished.
