Facilities: Practice Rooms
The music department houses thirty-one practice rooms with a variety of configurations, resources, and instruments available for student use.
In order to be able to use these rooms, students must pay a semester fee and receive a practice room permit. This permit must be shown to the Hill Hall desk monitors during evening and weekends in order to gain access to these rooms. Permits are distributed by Paul Cole, who can be contacted by email (pcole@email.unc.edu) and by phone (919-962-1039). All practice rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The practice rooms are located in the basement level of Hill Hall. Most of the rooms are equipped with an upright or electric piano, mirror and music stand. A few of the rooms have no piano. Of the available thirty-one practice rooms, there are five with grand pianos for the use of piano majors only.
