The Department of Music occupies three principal buildings: Kenan Music Building (125 S. Columbia Street), Hill Hall (145 E. Cameron Avenue), and Person Hall (181 East Cameron Avenue). Concerts and other departmental events are typically held in these buildings or at Memorial Hall (140 E. Cameron Avenue), as indicated on the map below. The red arrows illustrate the location of music department buildings, the orange arrow displays the location of Memorial Hall, and the yellow arrow indicates the location of the Swain Parking Lot.

Note: Any concerts held in Moeser Auditorium are in Hill Hall.

Swain Parking Lot

Please note that parking is limited in the Swain Lot, being available only after 5 p.m. on weekdays and throughout the weekend, though the lot is sometimes reserved for sporting events or Memorial Hall evening events. New Weeknight Parking rules are in effect as of August 2019, and parking in the Swain Lot is now $1/night Monday-Thursdays. Parking is free on weekends (Friday 5 p.m. – Monday 7:30 a.m.), barring special event parking restrictions.

Other Campus Lots

There are other campus lots within a short walk of the music buildings and Memorial Hall. Two such lots are the Morehead Planetarium lot (250 E. Franklin St.) and the Nash Lot (Wilson Street). Both lots are within a 15-minute walk of the music venues.

More information can be found on the Campus Parking Map.

Town of Chapel Hill Lots

Additional visitor parking at hourly rates is located in the parking garage between Rosemary Street and Columbia Street and other Town of Chapel Hill lots. The town has its own pay-by-the-hour parking lots to choose from, and a full list of these parking lots can be found on their website.

Parking in Town lots is free on Saturdays and Sundays in December and all observed national holidays.
