The Department of Music welcomes the Class of 2020 and is excited to meet all of our new students and see all returners.
Incoming music majors should plan to attend the Music Department Orientation for First-Year and Transfer Students on Sunday, August 21 at 3 p.m. in Kenan Music Building Room 1201.
All faculty and students should plan to attend the Music Department Convocation on Tuesday, August 23 at 4 p.m. in Kenan Music Building Room 1201.
A keyboard skills assessment will be held on Monday, August 22 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. This is intended for Bachelor of Music students only for placement out of MUSC 136 and/or MUSC 236. To sign up or find more information about the assessment, click here.
A music theory skills assessment will be held in person on Monday, August 22 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in Kenan Music Building Room 2131. This assessment is required for all incoming students. The Department prefers students to take it online ahead of time, which you can do at this link. Advance sign up for the in-person test is not required. This assessment is used for placement out of MUSC 121 (required for students intending to enroll in MUSC 130/131 in spring 2017). A make-up exam time is from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in Kenan Music Building Room 2130 for students with documentable conflicts.
